What began as a day to catch up with a friend and decompress from all the insanity that the year 2020 had wrought by exploring a new part of Barbados, turned into an opportunity for me to reconnect with my Inner Child.

Just as Barbados lifted the heavy restrictions of the ‘lockdown’, I was basically bursting at the seams to just get away and have an adventure!

For the past year I had been terrified of the pandemic, while also dealing with the abrupt passing of my Dad and learning how to build a business through it all.

I wanted to go exploring a new environment, I needed a fresh perspective, different company and a break from all the things I was failing at- and that is exactly what my decade long friend was proposing.

We travelled to a wonderful area where the land transformed from grassy to rocky and then sloped into a cliff with the sea raging just below.

It was perfect.

As I stood drinking in the warm, fresh sunshine, surrounded by the relentless rhythm of the sea crashing against the shore, all of my worries just melted away-,but what they left behind was clarity.

This allowed  for me to bravely check in with my Inner Child- not because it hurt, or because I was forced to, but because when she finally raised her head and asked to play, I realised I wanted to say yes.

I didn’t want to push her needs and desires down anymore…I wanted to play, I wanted to heal and I wanted to truly live!

So I gave in and I’m never going back.

Find this  sun-soaked story in The Ashlee Chronicle’s The One At The Sea Cliffs for a frolicking adventure that will dare you to not only reconnect to your Inner Child,  but inspire you to forgive yourself and give permission to enjoy  every area of your life more..

Imagine taking a deep breath of clean, fresh air with a hint of sea-salt; let yourself feel the bright rays of sunshine warm your skin as the sea-breeze blows gently against you. Hear the loud sound of waves rolling in the infinite sea before crashing loudly against the sand. Now let that breath out. Repeat. Let your head empty of all thoughts and feel how your chest expands with the same wonder of being surrounded by nature, safe and in the company of people you like spending time with. These are the sensations I experience whenever I read the first few paragraphs of The One At The Sea Cliffs from the Ashlee Chronicles Series. In those moments of re-reading this book I’m transported right back to that sunny day exploring this secret place overlooking the sea, goofing off with my friend and laughing at our ridiculous antics, feeling free, and amazing for the first time in months. I’m reminded of how my heart raced as I survived my friend’s heavy-footed driving, how I was so sure the vehicle would capsize before we even made it to our destination, and the moments that threatened to scare my soul from my body when we did get there, because exploring new places are not without risks. In this story, I share how good it felt to reconnect with my Inner Child, giving into her desires for once with no real judgment. It was a magical experience that showed me just how fun, creative, warm, and loving my Inner Child really is.
