My Secret Revealed

A little known secret of mine is that I’ve recently spent more time reading web-fiction than I have other books.
Now that is not to say that I don’t enjoy reading ebooks or that I’ll ever stop enjoying the feel of holding an actual printed book in my hands as I devour the plot…but recently I’ve found myself enthralled with the works of different people brave enough to share their creative contents online.
And I’m inspired by their unfiltered voices, by their techniques and by their oft-times unique approach to their creative writing.
Some of the writers that I’ve found dazzle me with their ability to write in ways that are both refreshing and sometimes…they break the rules I’ve always believed I could never.
They have in many ways revitalised my creativity and made me realise that writing, telling a fictional or true story, and sharing information is supposed to be
fun.
It’s supposed to push the boundaries and it’s safe to experiment.
Basically, it reminded me of what real creativity is, before it’s edited and reformed into someone else’s image or opinion of what is ‘going to sell’.
And I had to get in on that.
I am a prolific writer with a background in journalism, and for too long I’ve bought into the idea that inorder to be a successful writer I had to push myself into one box and become known for one kind of genre writing.
I’ve come to recognise and accept that my simple truth is that I simply enjoy writing and that’s beyond okay.
I enjoy writing thrilling, angst, romance, erotica and even supernatural fiction works.
I enjoy sharing anecdotes of my life experiences and what they taught me. I enjoy researching topics and compiling them into enticing guides.
I am a writer and that is nothing to be ashamed of.
So obviously where I felt there may not be a space for me to be all the things, I decided to create it for myself.
